The line "Maximum marks" that appears in an assessment question has confused some of our learners. They misunderstood this as meaning the number of answers required instead of the number of points they will earn or the weight of the correct answer to overall score.

We don't normally assign more than 1 mark per question and we're not very concerned about weights, etc. What is more important is that it's less confusing for learners.

Recently we've had several assessment reported as "inappropriate" and "misleading" just because they had this misunderstanding. The report was received by all our administrators who are working on other parts of the business. And some of these admins have escalated it to senior leadership which has created a bit of stress for us too.
