Currently, when we update existing content, such as a Nugget used for announcements or a course designated for Release Notes, assigned users do not receive an email notification. Notifications are only sent at the time of initial assignment. As a result, important updates can easily be missed unless partners happen to revisit the content on their own.
We rely heavily on Nuggets for partner announcements and on course updates to communicate Release Notes for our three main mapping tools. From a partner-support perspective, it’s critical that partners are reliably notified when this content changes, especially when updates affect functionality, workflows, or guidance.
At the same time, we’re very conscious of notification overload. For minor or no-impact updates, we would not want to automatically notify everyone. The ideal solution would be an opt-in option at publish time, for example, a simple “send email notification” checkbox, so content owners can decide when a notification is warranted. Additionally, when enabled, the message should be customizable so recipients know what has been updated before opening the content.
